Obama picks Turkey to chair 'forum' of 30 countries backed by UN, leaves out Israel, US taxpayers will 'host'

.
Obama is forming a global gang against Israel which US taxpayers will "host," the Global Counterterrorism Forum. They say you're "isolated" if you're not in the 'forum.' So the NY Times says Israel is "increasingly isolated." This new alleged 'counter terrorism' group's co-sponsor is Islamic Turkey. Obama plans to beef them up more by sending US taxpayer funded Predator drones to Turkey. Obama is growing violence in many unstable countries, "garrisoning" the world. Egypt attacking Israel and burning its embassy in Cairo is peanuts. He won't do anything to stop Egyptians rioting or send in arms like he did for others. The 'Global Counterterrorism Forum' has 30 countries over the middle east, northern Africa and Europe, in conjunction with the UN.
  • But not Israel.
  • And, with an "administrative unit that the U.S. will host for the first few years."...(parag. 6). The GOP House is apparently fine with this.
  • It also involves the UN whose personnel are not bound by our laws-they cannot be prosecuted by us no matter what crimes they commit against us. They use our money to redecorate their guest houses and there are no consequences. I notice they're screening a "film" at the UN meetings about terrorism (3rd parag. from end). Also obviously paid for by the US taxpayer.
  • Has congress approved this elaborate mess of a UN/US group to be paid for by US taxpayers? There are countless groups doing this kind of work already. US taxpayers will be "capacity building in the Sahel" per the website (5th parag. from bottom). The "Sahel" of course is a group of countries across north central Africa. Don't be an 'isolationist,' now.
Samantha Power, an Obama White House advisor whom he sought out in 2005 said the US (taxpayer) must give massive military force to Palestine, that it was crucial that this be done even at risk of offending a major political constituency (she doesn't say "the Jews" but it couldn't be anyone else). The Islamic goal of destroying the US economy has already been achieved, so that's an added bonus.

"Now the latest outrage comes to me courtesy of William Katz , the blogger behind the superb Urgent Agenda:

Hillary Clinton, in New York, just announced something called the Global Terrorism Forum. Here is the State Department fact sheet:

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2011/09/172010.htm

This "forum" is presumably set up to fight terrorism. It will initially be chaired by...and get this...the United States and TURKEY, a country becoming increasingly hostile and slipping behind the Islamic curtain.

There are 30 founding members, including such anti-terrorist worthies as Saudi Arabia, Russia, and South Africa.

One country is left out: Israel.

This is a complete outrage. Any "forum" set up presumably to fight terrorism should clearly contain the one nation that knows more about the subject than any other.

Turkey was behind the Mavi Marmara incident in which a flotilla to extend aid to Hamas-ruled Gaza was boarded by Israeli military trying to enforce a blockade on Gaza to stop terror attacks on Israel. This blockade was recently held to be legal under international law by no less than the United Nations (not a hot bed of Israel support). The Israelis were viciously attacked by terror supporters (if not terrorists) on the boat and defended themselves, resulting in several deaths. This boat took off from Turkey, was sponsored by a Turkish "charity" that serves in reality as a terror-supporting group, and several of the dead were from Turkey.

Now Turkey, a nation that has been lurching into the anti-American and anti-Israel orbit of Iran, is considered fit not just for membership but leadership of an anti-terror forum established by President Obama and his minions.

Apparently, Barack Obama has no problem with treating Israel as pariah nation. And promoting the prestige of terror-supporting nations."

A recent Zogby poll in six Arab countries found Obama has driven anti-American sentiment even higher than it was under George Bush. (parag. 25 in article)

9/19/11, "How Obama's destabilizing the world" Salon.com, Nick Turse

"American troops are on the ground in an increasing number of volatile countries -- and they're making things worse"

"It's a story that should take your breath away: the destabilization of what, in the Bush years, used to be called "the arc of instability." It involves at least 97 countries, across the bulk of the global south, much of it coinciding with the oil heartlands of the planet. A startling number of these nations are now in turmoil, and in every single one of them -- from Afghanistan and Algeria to Yemen and Zambia -- Washington is militarily involved, overtly or covertly,

  • in outright war or what passes for peace.
Garrisoning the planet is just part of it. The Pentagon and U.S. intelligence services are also running covert special forces and spy operations, launching drone attacks, building bases and secret prisons, training, arming, and funding local security forces, and engaging in a host of other militarized activities right up to full-scale war....

In addition to its own military efforts, the Obama administration has also arranged for the sale of weaponry to regimes in arc states across the Middle East, including Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirate, and Yemen. It has been indoctrinating and schooling indigenous military partners through the State Department's and Pentagon's International Military Education and Training program. Last year, it provided training to more than 7,000 students from 130 countries....
According to Pentagon documents released earlier this year, the U.S. has personnel -- some in token numbers, some in more sizeable contingents -- deployed in 76 other nations sometimes counted in the arc of instability...

A recent Zogby poll of respondents in six Arab countries -- Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates -- found that, taking over from a president who had propelled anti-Americanism in the Muslim world to an all-time high, Obama managed to drive such attitudes even higher. Substantial majorities of Arabs in every country now view the U.S. as not contributing "to peace and stability in the Arab World."...

For all the discussions here about (armed) "nation-building efforts" in the region, what we've clearly witnessed is a decade of nation unbuilding that ended only when the peoples of various Arab lands took their futures into their own hands and their bodies out into the streets. As recent polling in arc nations indicates, people of the global south see the United States as promoting or sustaining, not preventing, instability, and objective measures bear out their claims. The fact that numerous popular uprisings opposing authoritarian rulers allied with the U.S. have proliferated this year provides the strongest evidence yet of that.

With Americans balking at defending arc-of-instability nations, with clear indications that military interventions don't promote stability, and with a budget crisis of epic proportions at home, it remains to be seen what pretexts the Obama administration will rely on to continue a failed policy -- one that seems certain to make the world more volatile

"The U.S. currently is sharing Predator surveillance data with Turkey as part of a joint effort to combat the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which the U.S. considers a terrorist group and whose fighters have launched cross-border attacks into Turkey from northern Iraq. The Predators, capable of transmitting full-motion video, are flow from bases in Iraq....

The Washington Post was first to report Sunday that the Obama administration is considering a request from Turkey to base Predators on its territory.

The Post also cited classified diplomatic reports, obtained by the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, which reveal that Turkey has repeatedly pressed Washington to escalate their involvement in the fight against the PKK and to eliminate the group before U.S. forces leave Iraq."...
