"An off-duty female Sgt. Lisa Castellano de-armed a gunman who opened fire at a Texas Movie Theater. The off-duty deputy was working security at the theater when the gunman, Jesus Manuel Garcia, 19 became enraged over a breakup with his girlfriend.

According to MySanAntonio Bexar County sheriff’s Sgt. Raymond Pollard said Garcia’s ex-girlfriend called to warn the restaurant that he had told her he was headed there to “shoot somebody”.  But by the time she saw his message, Garcia was already outside the China Garden attempting to fire a Glock 23 at the front door about 9:25 p.m.

Witnesses allege that Garcia pulled out a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed. That is when he chased terrified patrons across the street to the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater during a showing of “The Hobbit”. That is when Garcia opened fire, shooting one man in the chest, before Sgt. Lisa Castellano off-duty sheriff’s deputy went into action.

Castellano who is a 13-year department veteran reportedly chased the gunman toward the back of the theater cornering him after he ran into the men’s restroom. She fired one shot and de-armed Garcia taking his gun.
