1 in 12 on Bloomberg 'gun tragedies' list are crime suspects including murderers. Bloomberg himself has armed bodyguards 24/7 even at his Bermuda home. He spent $300 million, changed law, to get 3 terms as NYC Mayor from which bully pulpit & media empire he 'mimics pioneers of gun control like Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao'

6/21/13, "1 in 12 on Bloomberg’s gun victims list are crime suspects," Paul Bedard, Washington Examiner

"A preliminary analysis of the list of shooting “victims” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns is reading at rallies for new gun control laws finds that one in 12 are crime suspects killed by police or armed citizens acting in self-defense.

The review of 617 killings found that 50 were suspects in crimes ranging from assault to murder, not the type of violence Bloomberg’s group suggests in its “No More Names” campaign to draw attention to the estimated 6,000 gun death “tragedies” since the mid-December Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newton, Conn.
.
The group is using an online list published by Slate.com which simply lists the killings. In Concord, N.H. this week, Bloomberg’s group read the name of Boston Marathon terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev off the list during a rally. The group later apologized, saying that his name shouldn’t have been read because he was “not a victim.”...
.
“This calls into question every statistic that Bloomberg and MAIG has used and will use to promote their cause,” said NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam. “Bloomberg has proven that he will stop at nothing, including repeating flawed statistics, in pursuit of his gun control agenda. And he'll do this with no regard for the truth.”

Mayors Against Illegal Guns said they plan to scrub the list. They also said the focus shouldn’t be on the circumstances of the shootings, but the numbers, according to Buzzfeed....
.
Examples found include an Ohio man shot by police while he was holding a gun in another man’s face, and a 79-year-old Indiana man who shot a 19-year-old who was attacking his granddaughter.

A separate analysis looked at 13 gun deaths in Montana listed on the Slate list used by Bloomberg’s group. It found that more than half were the result of police shootings or suicide." Image above, 2/4/12, "NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg with his armed bodyguards. Reuters."

4/25/10, "New York’s Mayor, but Bermuda Shares Custody," NY Times, Michael Barbaro

"The mayor also takes along a police detail when he travels, flying two officers on his private plane and paying as much as $400 a night to put them up at a hotel near his house; the city pays their wages while they are there, as it does whether Mr. Bloomberg is New York or not. Guns are largely forbidden in Bermuda — even most police officers do not use them — but the mayor’s guards have special permission to carry weapons. A spokesman for the Police Department declined to comment....

Mr. Bloomberg often eats with members of his security detail. At Rustico, his favorite Italian restaurant in Bermuda, he stakes out an outdoor table for six and orders platters of herb-marinated chicken, tenderloin of beef and fresh orecchiette."...

Bloomberg spent $300 million of his own money to buy the NYC Mayor's office for 3 terms for the purpose of acting out his hatred of the American middle class:
.
March 2011, "The Bloomberg Bubble Bursts" Commentary, Siegel and Stern
.
"But it exposes what, aside from the policy failures, is the most discomfiting aspect of the Bloomberg mayoralty: the mayor’s use of his own personal resources to buy himself not only political power but also political peace. In a manner unparalleled in American history, Bloomberg in total spent in excess of $300 million to secure office three times from an electorate that numbers fewer than 4 million people (and of which only a third actually participate).

That is one issue. The other has to do with the way Bloomberg spent tens of millions of dollars annually between elections to make sure that not too many influential New Yorkers would risk criticizing him."...(see subhead, 'The Money Problem,' parag. 2, 3)

2011, "An Open Letter to NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg," from Rabbi Dovid Bendory, Rabbinic Director, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership."

"Mr. Mayor, your citizen disarmament is an act of hypocrisy. Unlike nearly all the rest of us, everywhere you go you are surrounded by official armed guards, police escorts, and your highly trained personal private bodyguards. (See photo below). Mr. Mayor, is your life worth more than the lives of your fellow citizens?
Or are we mere “subjects” in your eyes?...

Tyrants like Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao “pioneered” the bloody trail of “gun control” in the 20th Century. Why do you so thoughtlessly, in effect, mimic the insidious actions of these monsters?
.
This apparent elitism on your part makes your recent publicity stunt in Arizona even more cynical. You sent NYPD agents all the way across the country to purchase guns -- but you can't deploy enough police to protect your own City residents?
And if you expose your city’s residents via such a manpower diversion, how do you justify denying these residents the right to protect themselves with a firearm?

Mr. Mayor, do you need a rabbi to tell you that your actions are wrong and immoral?

This nation’s Bill of Rights is a sacrosanct public trust. You are a public servant. You swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. As you blatantly disregard the Second Amendment, the actual “Guardian” of all the rest of the Bill of Rights, I must ask you:

.
Did you knowingly lie when you took your oath of office?...
.
Are you aware that Senator Thomas Dodd asked the Library of Congress to translate the Nazi Gun Control Laws into English for him, and that he incorporated language from these laws into the Gun Control Act of 1968 that he authored? How can it be that you, a Jew, are enforcing Nazi-inspired laws?"

Bloomberg tells Obama to bypass Congress and "lead" on gun control:

Bloomberg Tells Obama to Ignore Congress on Gun Control, Lott Says Arm Teachers," Independent Sentinel, Sarah Noble
.
"It must be nice for someone who has the luxury of bodyguards to tell the rest of us we are not allowed to have the means to defend ourselves.

“It’s time for the president, I think, to stand up and lead and tell this country what we should do, not go to Congress and say what you guys want to do,” Bloomberg said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” ...

Chicago, with about one-quarter the population of NYC is worse. By October, 400 people were murdered in Chicago. Chicago has very strict gun laws."...

Bloomberg takes the subway with bodyguards:

6/29/07, "Bloomberg," NY Daily photo, Brian Dube

"He (Bloomberg) has a 20-acre farm in North Salem, NY, a Victorian townhouse in London, and a condominium in Vail, Colorado. He is a private pilot with a fleet of aircraft at his disposal. Yet, ever to be practical and demonstrate that at some level he is still one of us plain folk, he continues to take the subway every morning to City Hall (albeit with bodyguards)."....

11/26/10, "Officer on Bloomberg bodyguard team charged in shooting," Newsday, Matthew Chayes

"A police detective assigned to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's bodyguard team appeared before a judge Friday for allegedly shooting his girlfriend's former boyfriend, Queens prosecutors said.

Det. Leopold McLean, a 17-year veteran on the force, was released on bail after his arraignment on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, first- and second-degree..." (subscrip.)

Bloomberg uses Mayor's office "to lobby the federal government," per his spokesman:
.
6/22/13, "NYC Taxpayers Help Sponsor Bloomberg’s Gun Control Group," Jim Swift, Weekly Standard
.
"Maggie Haberman and Steve Friess of Politico add, “At minimum, the use of a city web server and city employees underscore what critics have long derided as a blurring of the lines between government resources and Bloomberg’s own multi-billion-dollar fortune, his company, and his pet interests in his three terms as mayor."
.
It is unclear why Bloomberg, who has a net worth of $27 billion and has given millions of dollars in donations to Mayors Against Illegal Guns Action Fund, would involve the City of New York in purchasing and hosting the webpage for Mayors Against Illegal Guns....
.
(Bloomberg spokesman) La Vorgna continued, saying that Mayor Bloomberg’s push for changes to federal firearms law was part of the “federal agenda for New York City” and compared it to other efforts Bloomberg, as mayor, has undertaken—like the effort he and other mayors are involved in to limit the use of food stamps in purchasing sugary drinks.
.
The Mayors Against Illegal Guns website, according to La Vorgna, like other Bloomberg efforts to lobby the federal government, was done as part of “his capacity as mayor.”

UPDATE: Bloomberg spokesman Marc La Vorgna emails, saying Mayors Against Illegal Guns is not "a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization," as this article originally stated.

The group's "action fund" -- a separate entity -- is the 501(c)(4). But, as Haberman and Friess note in Politico, "The overlap between Bloomberg’s groups and the city are evident throughout the registration information for several of the websites associated with them."

While La Vorgna claims mayorsagainstillegalguns.org isn't affiliated with the 501(c)(4) "action fund" effort -- it is not immediately clear which webpage belongs to the 501(c)(4), since demandaction.org is listed as "A campaign of Mayors Against Illegal Guns."

Bloomberg media company employs 10,000:
.
12/7/12, "The Media Mogul Protection Racket" M. Continetti, Washington Free Beacon
.
"New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is a mixture of Lee Kuan Yew and Napoleon Bonaparte. He says he knows better than the rest of us when it comes to smoking, eating, governing, term limits, and life in general, and he is prepared to use his $25 billion to shape America so that it produces little (littler?) Bloombergs. His media company, Bloomberg LP, is a behemoth that employs more than 10,000 people.

That is basically the equivalent of an army division covering and influencing financial services, international business, and United States politics. Yet Bloomberg media practice a studied incuriosity when it comes to their namesake. In October for instance New York City’s Campaign Finance Board rebuked the mayor for not reporting $1.2 million in contributions to the Empire State’s Independence Party. Plenty of New York media covered the decision; the Bloomberg properties did not.

.
Mayor Bloomberg also seems to have been unprepared for the severity of Hurricane Sandy. His response to the disaster in boroughs where he and his rich friends do not live has been less than satisfactory. He was reluctant to postpone the New York City Marathon even though it was scheduled to take place days after one of the worst natural disasters in modern memory and was to start in a borough that had been ravaged by floodwaters.

What did the mayor do? He had the brilliant insight that he would avoid blowback if he could shift media attention to climate change. And he did. The first post-Sandy cover of Bloomberg Businessweek carried the headline, “It’s Global Warming, Stupid,” and neatly coincided with the mayor’s endorsement of Obama on the basis of climate policy. Bloomberg has been coy but people expect him to leave office in 2013 when he will take up writing, philanthropy, and interfering in the lives of the rest of us."...

"It’s striking how, in a fully synergistic Bloomberg style,

a news organization,
a financial information company and
a team of lobbyists

often seem to be working in smooth concert."...

2/10/11, "How Bloomberg Does Business," The Nation, Aram Roston

"Though Bloomberg doesn’t run the day-to-day affairs of Bloomberg LP, he still owns almost all the shares, handpicks the firm’s managers, talks with them as much as he feels he needs to, and therefore imposes his own will on the firm when he likes. (New York’s
ineffectual Conflicts of Interest Board limited but never fully defined the mayor’s role at the company he founded: the board allows him to “maintain the type of involvement that he believes is consistent with his being the majority shareholder.”)...

Given Bloomberg’s push for a national platform, any intersections between his corporation’s interests and the government warrant scrutiny. And Bloomberg LP runs an effective and sophisticated lobbying shop to promote the firm’s interests with federal agencies and Congress.

It’s striking how, in a fully synergistic Bloomberg style,

a news organization,
a financial information company and
a team of lobbyists

often seem to be working in smooth concert."...
